Produced in collaboration with White Rabbit Gallery (Sydney), CCP has selected key photographic and film works from the White Rabbit Gallery’s collection.

The works are united by their exploration of love: What is the experience of love today? Can we capture and document the intimate feelings, the emotions and traces? From sweet early romance, to shattering revelations of infidelity, to the overwhelming passion for a boyband, the artists in ‘I Loved You’ use a range of photographic and video techniques to capture and convey personal moments representative of love, memory, fantasy and connection.

PUBLIC PROGRAMS

In Conversation with Sin Wai Kin
Thursday 8 June, 7pm

Join London-based artist Sin Wai Kin for an online talk as part of CCP’s current exhibition ‘I Loved You: Works From the White Rabbit Collection.’

Sin Wai Kin’s practice pivots around the use of speculative fiction within performance, moving image, writing and print, to question the idealised image and the collective gaze. Their work presents fantasy narratives that interrupt normative processes around issues of desire, identification, and objectification. Sin’s use of performance and particularly drag began as a means of deconstructing and challenging misogyny and racism. Video works and performances are frequently staged at immersive scales, and the various drag characters that Sin Wai Kin performs reference discourses on gender, identity, and consciousness. Their work serves to destabilise essentialist notions of not only gender, but further to complicate binaries such as performance and authenticity, self and other, and fantasy and reality.
